The Woods offers catering as well, both on-site and off-site within Central Vermont. The Main Lodge, with its fully equipped and licensed commercial kitchen, features a large dining room and common room that can accommodate anything from a private intimate dinner party to a celebration or event for up to 80 indoors (and more outdoors).
The Woods is only 3 hours from Boston, Montreal, Hartford or Albany and 5 minutes off the interstate, yet it is worlds away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
With accommodations ranging from private cottages with all the comforts of home, to cabins, bunkhouses and tent sites tucked into the landscape, The Woods at Wihakowi has something for everyone.
Russel Reunion 2006
A short drive to many of Central Vermont's best attractions, ski areas, recreational activities and dining establishments, this secluded hideaway is just seconds from the VAST snowmobile trail system, and has its own 36-acres of meadows, hiking and snowshoeing trails, a brook, waterfall, swimming pool, tree house, outdoor amphitheater and stone-lined labyrinth path for plenty of year-round outdoor enjoyment and relaxation.

Technology Notice:
If you require 24/7 high-speed internet, hundreds of TV channels, in-room movies and super-reliable cell service, The Woods is not the place for you. The name says it all, we are in "the woods", off the beaten path, in a peaceful and quiet woodland setting with trees and birds and a brook and an amazing sky full of stars at night. We are far away from any city, and likewise are limited in our technological accessibilty.
Yes, we do have internet access, and in and around most of the buildings you can pick up a wireless signal. There are also ethernet connections available in some locations on the property, as well. The only internet service available to us, however, (because we are 1 mile up a dirt road), is 5mb DSL service.
Yes, there are TVs in the cottages and the Main Lodge, but, again, we are in a wooded, high valley, and sometimes, the satellite TV does not come in due to weather, cloud cover, or a critter chewing through the cables. Additionally, we are a small commercial account, so we can only choose from the 'a la carte' channel packages available to us from Dish Network. We have chosen what we think is a good variety of channels that span generations and genders. We also have DVD players in most cottages, if what's on TV is not to your liking. We do not subscribe to ESPN, HBO or other subscription channels, as it is cost-prohibitive.
Yes, we have cell phones ourselves, but the only truly reliable carrier signal available on our property and in our neighborhood is AT&T. We have a land line phone in our Main Lodge which you can use for local or toll-free outgoing calls, and you can always give our toll-free number out to anyone who might need to contact you and we'll get a message to you.
We want your stay at The Woods to be a memorable one, but not because you were disappointed by the fact that you felt utterly isolated or disconnected from the outside world (which really isn't the case here, but for some, the limits of our technology can make it seem that way). So please, if you must be "plugged in" at all times, you might want to find another place to stay. Conversely, if you long to be in a place where you don't feel the need to check your email or voicemail every 5 minutes and you'd rather throw a towel over the TV to help you resist the temptation to turn it on, then, by all means, give us a call! |
